Van Morrison at Birmingham - A cold night (zero deg) and a bit of a surprise. The show started at 8pm on the dot, Van the Man from the word go, so no support act. His six piece band were generally sharp with a few glitches but Van was in fine form on vocals, sax, guitar, harmonica even with what seemed like a touch of a cold. Through the standards and some new tracks - noteable was a reworking of "Have I told you that I love You lateley" at a very different tempo. Finishing with "Gloria" Van left the stage at just after 9.30pm to general confusion and most of the audience wondering if he was coming back. No, the lights came up and that was it! 1 1/2 hours for £30 each. A good show but not the best we have seen.
